Bliznec – Puntijarka mountain hut

You can reach the start of the trail by car by taking Gračanska Road to Bliznec Street, then driving along it for about 1 km to the parking lot at the widening of the Bliznec stream valley and the start of the trail.

By public transport, take tram line 15 to its final stop at Dolje. You’ll arrive at the lower station of the new Sljeme cable car. Walk around the building on the left side and head toward the tunnel. You’ll come out onto a path leading to the lower station of the old cable car. The actual trail starts after the tunnel, turning right onto a narrow paved path across the road, then continues north along the sidewalk. After a bend, it becomes a dirt path leading to the Bliznec parking lot, the official starting point of Bikčević trail. The entire way, you’ll be walking along Bliznec stream.

On the north side of the Bliznec sawmill, descend the steps, cross the small bridge over the Bliznec stream, and you’ll reach the start of the trail. There is an immediate fork: trail no. 36 goes right up Strmopeć hill, while trail no. 19 goes left toward Njivice. Trail no. 19 begins gently, following the Bliznec stream. It’s a very scenic trail, always within the forest, gradually climbing as it moves away from the stream. Over the first kilometre, the trail climbs 150 metres in elevation and remains pleasant and easy to walk. The next 500 metres are steeper, as the trail ascends sharply toward Njivice. After a large switchback, you’ll soon arrive at Njivice, marking the halfway point of the trail.

At the canopy in Njivice, trail no. 19 joins trail no. 18 (Bikčević trail) and continues toward the Puntijarka hut. The second part of the trail is much more demanding, climbing a significantly greater elevation over the next two kilometres. This stretch has no flat sections and involves a continuous ascent. It starts out moderately, but becomes steeper toward the end, crossing trail no. 64 before finishing at the junction with trail no. 107, near the Vila Samoća (Villa Solitude) wooden cabin. From there, it’s another 150 metres of steep ascent on trail no. 107 to reach the Puntijarka mountain hut.
