Kraljičin Zdenac – Grafičar mountain hut

To reach Kraljičin Zdenac (Queen’s Well), it’s recommended to take the easy and popular trail no. 13, known as Miroslavec, named after count Miroslav Kulmer, a longtime president of the Croatian Mountaineering Society.

To continue, at Kraljičin Zdenac you need to cross the Sljemenska Cesta road and head uphill along trail no. 105. This beautiful well-maintained hiking path, about 1.5 metres wide, is also called Omladinska staza (Youth trail). It was renovated during the 1987 Zagreb Universiade and is very well marked. The path gradually ascends and after two bends – each with benches – it levels out slightly, continuing with a gentle incline along the southern side of the Mlečnica forest area.

After about 20 minutes, you’ll reach a junction with trail no. 12, where you should continue straight uphill to a bench at Mlečnica. Here you'll again encounter a junction with trail no. 12 and another path that climbs steeply to the Chapel of St. James (not recommended for casual hikers). Continue on trail no. 105 toward Grafičar mountain hut. Soon you'll reach a junction with trail no. 50, and after another 200 metres, you’ll spot a shelter – a convenient rest stop. You’re now about halfway to Grafičar mountain hut. The trail continues with a gentle climb all the way to the Sljemenska Cesta road. It comes out onto a forest road (Sljemenska Cesta is about 10 metres to the right) and leads straight through an area called Rudarski Vrt (Miner’s Garden). Nearby is the historic Zrinski Mine. Walk another 200 metres, and you’ll arrive at the meadow where Grafičar mountain hut is located.

From Grafičar, it's only 700 metres to the Chapel of St. James on Veliki Plažur. Part of the way follows a hiking trail, but the easiest route is to return to Sljemenska Cesta and carefully follow it in the direction of Veliki Plažur.
