Planina Donja – Lipa mountain hut

Take bus line 262 Dubec–Sesvete–Planina Donja and ride to the final stop.

From there, walk along Planinarska street toward the Sv. Juraj church (Church of St. George). At the nearby intersection, turn left uphill onto Planinarski Odvojak. The asphalt ends and turns into a gravel road. You can follow the gravel road all the way to a small cottage, where the trail continues to the right and then straight uphill. This section after the asphalt ends can be shortened by taking a shortcut through a small forest and meadow, after which you’ll rejoin the gravel road. Walk another 20 metres and turn right again, across a meadow and through another small wooded area, and you'll come out onto the gravel road near the cottage. Cross the gravel road and go straight uphill on the right side of the cottage until you reach the intersection with trail no. 28, which follows a wide forest road. Cross that road and continue up the stairs on trail no. 31. The trail enters the forest here and climbs more steeply straight ahead. After a while, you’ll reach the spot known as "the horse and the elephant" at a right turn – a slightly easier incline and a good landmark. From there, the trail continues uphill until you reach a meadow with a chapel dedicated to the Croatian martyrs, where the trail ends. From the meadow, it's about five more minutes along trail no. 110 to reach the Lipa mountain hut. From the intersection with trail no. 28, trail no. 31 climbs steadily uphill, without any flat sections. Some parts are steeper, but it is not an overly difficult ascent.
