Šestine – Javorov Zdenac (Tomislav's hut)

Walk back toward the Church of St. Mirko and, next to the cemetery, follow Prilaz Kraljičinu Zdencu street to the Šestinski Lagvić restaurant. Continue uphill on the road for another 30 metres and you’ll reach the entrance to hiking trail no. 12, which leads to the Medvedgrad fortress, , and further towards Grafičar and Risnjak. Trail no. 13 also begins nearby, on the right side of Sljemenska Cesta.

From there, the trail gently ascends for about 30 metres, gradually becomes steeper as it curves to the left, and then levels out again. You walk through a beautiful forest until you reach a curve, lined with chestnut trees. The trail then ascends again and continues alongside Medvedgradska Cesta road. At one point, you’ll cross the road and reenter the forest, where it climbs more steeply for the final 20 metres up toward Medvedgrad. It takes about 15 minutes from the road to reach the fortress. The trail is marked with both blazes and green signs. In total, it’s about 35 minutes of easy walking to Medvedgrad. To visit, you’ll need to buy an entrance ticket.

From Medvedgrad, the trail descends to Glog, a small clearing and junction where trail no. 11 branches off toward the Risnjak mountain hut and trail no. 12 continues toward Tomislav’s hut. Trail no. 11 goes left along a wide forest road – but you will follow trail no. 12 to the right. Here, the trail becomes steeper for about 500 metres, gaining 70 metres in elevation. Soon you’ll reach a small junction – you can go either right or straight, as both paths reconnect at the top. It’s recommended to go right uphill, where you'll soon reach the junction with trail no. 105. There’s a bench here for resting. Trail no. 105 comes from the Grafičar mountain hut and leads to Kraljičin Zdenac (Queen’s Spring). For about 100 metres, trails no. 105 and no. 12 overlap. Head right downhill toward Kraljičin Zdenac, and 100 metres later you'll reach a junction where you turn left and continue gently uphill along trail no. 12 toward Tomislav’s hut. Follow trail no. 12 for 750 metres until you reach Sljemenska Cesta road. The entire time, you're hiking along the eastern slopes of Veliki Plazur peak. After crossing Sljemenska Cesta, the trail continues along "Bažulovka" and leads to a junction with a wide forest road. Cross the forest road at a right-hand bend and continue straight to the Javorov Zdenac spring—this is where trail no. 12 ends.

From there, continue straight uphill to the junction with trail no. 106, and soon you’ll arrive at Sljemenska Cesta and Tomislav’s hut. Tomislav's hut is less than a 10-minute walk uphill to the right from Javorov Zdenac.
