The ninth kilometre of Sljemenska Cesta – Runolist mountain hut

Hiking trail no. 16 begins at the ninth kilometre of the Sljemenska Cesta road and intersects with trail no. 14 right at the start.

It’s also known as Šumarev put (Forester’s path), named after forester Albin Leustek who mapped it in the 1930s. The entire route is a wide gravel forest road. The stone material used for paving the path was extracted and crushed at the Adolfovac quarry. The first kilometre follows Leustek trail up to the Kališće hill, where it sharply turns right and heads toward Varoška Gora. After about half an hour of walking, you’ll come close to the Runolist mountain hut. From the road to the left, a narrow path uphill takes you to the hut in just five minutes. The gravel road continues further to Tigrovo oko (Tiger’s eye) and Šumarev grob (Forester’s grave), eventually reaching the junction with trail no. 107, which leads to the Puntijarka mountain hut.
