Sledging

Sledging

As the snow blankets the ground, Medvednica transforms into a real winter playground, and one of the liveliest spots io the mountain is Činovnička livada.

Just below the peak, at 960 metres above sea level, this wide, open meadow becomes the go-to sledging slope for all ages.

The meadow is named after the old Činovnički Dom (Clerks’ Lodge), now known as Dom Željezničar, built back in 1928 by Zagreb’s civil servants. These days, while the grown-ups sip hot tea and swap childhood memories, kids zoom down the hill with grins on their faces and snow in their hair. Sledges, boards, plastic shovels – anything goes, as long as it slides downhill with plenty of laughter.

The meadow is shared with skiers on the White Run (Bijeli spust), but its eastern side is reserved for those who wouldn’t trade sledging for anything. If you're after simple, old-school winter fun – this is the place to be.

When the mountain turns white, grab your sledge and dive right in.
