Gorščica (740 m)

Where the forest opens up to a sunny meadow on the eastern side of Medvednica, you'll find Gorščica, an old forester’s lodge built back in 1896.

In the 1970s, the caretaker Jure Čorak looked after this place, tending to every corner of this peaceful clearing. After the lodge was damaged by fire in 1991, Jure rebuilt it with his own hands, even adding a small chapel and a thatched hut, leaving behind a true mark of his dedication. Batch 2 - 16.4. 2025 HR

Today, Ivan Grljak takes care of things – keeping it all neat and in order. While the old lodge is closed, you’ll find a little hut right next door where you can stop for a bite. The offerings are simple, but they’re just what you need for a quick break in the fresh air.

Wooden benches await tired hikers, kids can run free across the meadow and cat lovers will feel right at home – there are plenty of them around. Just keep an eye on your dogs and keep them on a leash – the cats are in charge here.
