Chapel of Our Lady of the Snow

Tucked beneath Mount Stražnjec (621 m), in the quiet area of Luščica, you'll discover the charming Gothic chapel of Our Lady of the Snow.

Built in 1829 by the people of Čučerje, this modest yet enchanting chapel is not only a historical gem but also an important stop along the pilgrimage route to Marija Bistrica.

The chapel sits along hiking trails no. 27 and no. 29, and the easiest access is from Gornje Čučerje. Just follow the signs for trail no. 29 and you’ll arrive after about an hour’s gentle forest walk. There, you’ll be greeted by stillness, calm and a natural spring with fresh drinking water – an idyllic spot to rest and recharge.

Inside, the chapel is adorned with frescoes by painter Ivan Tomljanović, bringing local figures from the Čučerje area to life. His artwork fills the space with warmth and a sense of living history.

Whether you're a hiker, a pilgrim or simply looking for a quiet place to reflect and unwind, the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snow offers a moment of peace and beauty right in the heart of Medvednica.
