Glavica mountain hut (420 m)

Nestled on the southwest slopes of Medvednica, above Gornji Stenjevec, Glavica mountain hut is a peaceful, green retreat perfect for a short escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The hut is accessible by bus line 124 and just a ten-minute walk away you’ll find the Veternica cave, which is open for visitors.

At 420 metres above sea level, Glavica offers stunning views of western Zagreb from its spacious terrace, along with a children’s playground and homemade food and drinks. It’s open on weekends and offers 30 rooms for overnight stays.

You can reach the hut by a pleasant 30-minute walk either from Gornji Stenjevec or from the Ponikve meadow. Glavica was built in 1936 through the volunteer work of Zagreb’s workers, members of the "Friends of Nature" society, many of whom later joined the resistance during World War II. Glavica is not just a place to rest but also a quiet testament to community spirit, courage and  love for nature.
